A Return to Normal Life
The months of September and October have been, especially, difficult in the Philippines.
With so many typhoons, we have been ill equipped to handle all the wind and rain damage. Flooding has been the hardest part to handle. Millions and millions of families have been affected by the extended flooding. So many families have lost their homes and possessions during these past months.
Our family was affected by the storms. Our house was flooded. We had a major electrical fire when our circuit breaker box was flooded with water. Our car port was blown apart and our roof was damaged. We even developed a few cracks in our home’s outside walls that allowed water to run into the house interior. We, also, had major repairs to certain appliances. Our downstairs split-air conditioner ‘s motherboard was burned in the electrical overload and fire. We had to wait four weeks for parts.
The good part of all of this is my family is safe and sound without any injuries. I consider myself the luckiest man in the world that my family has been unaffected by all of these calamities.
I am glad that all the repairs are now completed and I can sit down and, once again, spend time writing my thoughts, opinions, and recollections. On one side I will write with a little bit more compassion but when I see a wrong, I will continue to write with even more sharper words.
There are, still, many families living in shelters because they are homeless. Please think of them by contributing to the International Red Cross. Your help will be need here in the Philippines for a long time. The Filipino people are a great people and, by my humble opinion, the kindest and warmest people in the world …they deserve our help.
Please give now and allow them a peaceful holiday season.
