Graduation

Thoughts and Recollections

Tomorrow my first born daughter will graduate from grade school.

I was thinking about this today and ask myself the question “Where did all the time go?” I have been with her since the minute she was born. She was born in the late afternoon at the office of a midwife. Within three hours, she was home sleeping. I remember staying up all night watching her. I had always wished for a daughter

I watched her with amazement as she grew.  I remember her as a “peaceful” baby that rarely cried. I remember her first steps and her first words. Baby teeth arriving and departing in a blink of my eye.

I took her to her first day in kindergarten and her first day of grade school. I can remember every day she was sick and how I worried over her.

I have seen her grow from a tiny baby to a long legged girl that is a very short time from being a beautiful woman.

She is smart and strong-willed. She knows what she wants and she works hard to get it. She is still in the void between child and woman but each day she shows me more of the woman than the child. She has grown to be a good big sister to her younger two sisters (yes, the Lord blessed me  two more times with daughters) and her two brothers.

Congratulations my daughter on your graduation. You have a bright future ahead. I love you and I am proud to be your father.
