Fear and Anxiety
Thoughts
Over the last week, I have, increasingly, been feeling a sense of “darkness” about the current situation in the United States of America. Now, maybe, it is the fact that I was a young man during the 60s and was witness to the horrible events of murder and assassination committed against leading figures of those times.
When I witness people shouting at political rallies “kill him” and “off with his head” and see pictures in the news of a man riding a motorcycle wearing a tee shirt that says “Nigger ! It is the White House!” with a McCain /Palin sticker on the motorcycle; I worry.
I believe now, as I believed back in the 60s, that there are “forces” that control the workings of the US Government that no normal citizen really knows about or can control. I believe that McCain is a “insider” in this “dark world” and that world will not allow Obama to be the next president. If he succeeds by winning the vote he will not survive in office.
America has always been divided on racial issues and just because people have learned to cover their feelings better over time doesn’t change the problem. With each new generation the problem becomes more diluted but like a fire that one thinks is extinguished, one only needs to fan it and the flame rises again. Given the remarks of McCain and Palin during the past weeks, the flames are hot and strong again. Especially among the “Joe Six Pack” crowd.
I, like so many, will watch the next debate with intensity. If McCain does not win this last debate, I feel that he will, again, forget all the rules of decency and show his real colors and with Palin, we will really see what the “pit bull’s” true colors are and how the people will react.
I fear that the United States of America is entering into a “perfect storm” that may destroy the very fabric of the nation.
What are your feelings?
