Opinion

Unless you have been on the Moon or Mars, I would have hoped that, by now, you had visited Georgie at Being Five.

All kidding aside, Being Five is a comic strip about a five year old kid named Georgie, who blogs using voice recognition software (since he can’t read or write yet). George Sfarnas, cartoonist and animator drew inspiration from his five year old son for his latest comic strip called Being Five.

In an interview, George stated,”I launched the strip in March of 2006, when my own son was five years old. His unique perspective on life made me smile every day (and still does) so I wanted to preserve that in a comic strip…thus Being Five.”

There are some cool cartoons out there but I have to say that I love Georgie and his innocent view about technology and blogging, as I have a 4 year old son and I can really relate to the concept of Georgie.

In our current world situation, we really do need more laughter, now than ever, in our lives. I know that after your first visit you will become a regular Being Five reader.

Please visit Georgie at Being Five

McCain’s Russia Connection?

Thoughts

Just when I thought the campaign was winding down, another twist raises it’s head. An item came up in the news that John McCain’s presidential election campaign solicited a financial contribution from the most unlikely source — Russia’s United Nations envoy — but a McCain spokesman on Monday quickly said it was a mistake.

In the letter, McCain urged Russia’s U.N. Ambassador, Vitaly Churkin, to contribute anywhere from $35.00 to $5,000.00 to help ensure McCain’s victory over Democratic rival Senator Barack Obama, currently ahead in voter preference polls.

Moscow’s mission to the United Nations issued a very strong terse statement on McCain’s letter, saying that the Russian government and its officials “do not finance political activity in foreign countries.”

Although McCain’s campaign’s response to this new revelation was “It was an error in the mailing list”, the letter was addressed, directly, to Ambassador Churkin and had McCain’s signature near the bottom of the letter.

Now, my questions are: why would McCain solicit from a foreign diplomat when he knew that it was illegal? Was this letter “code” for more than money help in dealing with Senator Obama? Why is McCain and his people playing “cozy” with the Russian government?

Now, the final question is this: who is really in bed with the enemy?

A Little of This and That

Thoughts

I have been away from TOMD for the last five days for a very good cause…my wife. I promised my wife months ago that I would finish building her blog and I felt that it was time to get my butt in gear and fulfill my promise. I feel really good that I have finished the job as I know that she will have great success with the project. She is the type of person that puts her “heart and soul” into anything that she decides to do. I will give the details of the blog in a few days after she she has time to add a few postings. Now, with the job done, I will be able to give more attention to TOMD in the coming days.

Opinions

Well, the last of the debates was exactly what I expected. Barack Obama was his usual cool self and John McCain performed like a “dog in heat.” I have never been a person who got emotional about politics but there is something about John McCain that just rubs me wrong. Compound that rub with the extreme dislike that I have for Sarah Palin and, maybe, you can understand why I have gotten to the point where I change the channel when John McCain comes on. Thank God that I don’t live in the USA where I would have to sit through the endless political commercials. I really feel bad for my country men and women for their pain. Now, I hear that McCain has stooped to using robocalls to spread dirt about Obama. This is the same tactic that was used against him in 2004 by Bush. At that time, McCain swore that it was the lowest form of tactics; so now he uses it…go figure.

My greatest worry, now, is the Republican Party trying to steal the election through their lies and dirty tricks in the voter registration area. You know, the dirty tricks have never ended in the GOP since Nixon and his plumbers. Speaking about plumbers, maybe it is just me but I really don’t believe that “Joe the Plumber” just showed up at the Obama rally stop to “ask” a question. I really believe that he was a plant by the McCain camp. Well, like everything else the McCain people have done, they screwed that one up. Joe is not a licensed plumber and he really is not buying any company and at his level he will never earn over $250,000. BTY, he owes back taxes to the US Government. A real average good citizen who is one of the “6-pack” gang of Sarah Palin…go figure again.

Look, Obama will win the election only if McCain is not successful in stealing the election like Bush did to Gore in 2004. The best side of all of this is there are only two weeks left of this pain. I wonder what the news media will do after the election. Maybe they will make it up as they go along like Fox News. Now, there is a group that can teach you the “ins and outs” of dirty journalism.

Recollections

Is it just me or do you dream of the “old days” when we didn’t have “instant news.” Where a family could sit down to dinner and not have robocalls interrupting dinner with the news that a political candidate has terrorist friends. Where you could get your news from a tightly opinionated print news media and not 100+ television channels all speaking like trained “monkeys” for the sake of ratings.

I think that I like my dirty politics well hidden like the “old days.” Nay, not really, I was just pulling your leg!
